It has been awhile since I last posted, so here is an update!
I have finished all of my orientations, and my guarantee forms have just came back. I also just recently celebrate my birthday, and have finished school for the year.
I will be living in Chiangmai Thailand. Chiangmai can also be spelled Chiang Mai. It is know the largest and most cultural cities in northern Thailand. The city is dense with buddhist temples, there are over three-hundred temples within the city. Chiangmai is also known for its elaborate festivals including Loi Krathong and Songkran.
I have also found out my host families! I have three, meaning I will moving families approximately every four months. My first family is a family of four, I will have two younger brothers Nattawat who is 15 and Amornthep who is 14. From the pictures I have seen it seems as through they live in a rural area. It does not say what my parents do for a living, but I am guessing they own their own business. My second family is a family of six including pets, I will have two older sisters and two dogs. The older sisters do not live at home as they are both attending university. Both of them have been on exchanges, one of them went to Quebec and the other went to Portugal. The older one is named Praw and the younger of the two is named Praew. (I will let you know the difference between the names once I find out.) The father is a lawyer, and my host mom is a teacher. I believe they live in the city, in what looks like a villa/apartment. The third family I will stay with is a family of five, I will have an older sister, Chalunthorn, who is 21 and a younger sister, Chalisa, who is 16. They also have a dog. Im not really sure what area they live in, but i am guessing in more of a rural area. My host father in this family is a general manger of some sort, and my host mom is a officialdom.
I will be attending Chaingmai College of preforming arts, which I believe is just a high school with a fancy name, as I will only be in grade ten. The school focuses on musical instruments, Thai dance, traditional Thai performance, as well as international performance arts. I am excited to attend this school, as it appears to be very cultural as well as focused on performance which is something that I love.
My arrival date must be between the august 7th and 10th, so I will be leaving in approximately 45 days. I know the time is going to fly by and I am getting more nervous and excited as the date creeps closer.
